As an organization committed to learning, Admiral K9 Academy (AK9A) makes research and development a priority.
In addition to providing the best security solutions currently available, AK9A’s mission is to utilize our creativity, experience, and ingenuity to develop new and improved techniques to solve safety challenges.
Our research efforts have led to a strategic alliance with General Electric in the pursuit of high-touch, high-tech security solutions combining scent detection technology with the remarkable prowess of trained canines.
The powerful combination of well-trained canine and technology is a cutting edge development in our industry. We are dedicated to developing new ways these methods can be used to serve our clients.
AK9A is currently working on these unique prototype programs:
Remote Explosives Detection — This program is aimed at deploying canines to make explosives detection safer for security personnel. Dogs will be trained to detect explosives and to respond to both hand and audible signals including whistling and radio signals. All of the dogs will be cross-trained using the following equipment:
- Radio receivers attached to their collars with earpieces
- Video transmitters
- Air sample collectors
- Body armor
- GPS locaters
Tactical Tracking Canines — This prototype canine training program utilizes remote signaling and video and audio transmitting to effectively deploy canines as forward observers. The dogs can be trained in tracking and will respond to audible signals including whistling and radio signals. The dogs will be trained using the following equipment:
- Radio receivers and transmitters attached to their collars with earpieces
- Video cameras to transmit signals back to the tactical team
- Body armor
- GPS locaters
